The Minister had a tough time putting his words in the house as the opposition was in no mood to buy the excuse of the government that there was a 'mistaken identity' while a counter-insurgency operation. Locals in the area who are still traumatized recall the ghastly killings term as an encounter.

The incident triggered violence in the area Saturday night and late Sunday afternoon, in which a few more innocent villagers were killed after security forces allegedly opened fire. A soldier succumbed to injuries sustained in the Saturday violence.

The issue has incurred wrath from all walks of life and social media was abuzz with posts criticising the administration. The users even demanded an explanation for the brutal killings of innocent villagers.

The Home Minister informed the house that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the incident. "The SIT will submit its report in 30 days,"'s The team will submit the report in 30 days," said Shah.
