The fresh COVID surge poses a serious concern for the government.
Union Health Ministry and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) have taken some major steps in preventing people from COVID in wake of the fresh surge across the country. Any individual having fever with or without cough, headache, sore throat, breathlessness, bodyache, fatigue, and diarrhoea will be considered as a suspect case of Coronavirus. Apart from these symptoms, anybody who has lost taste or smell recently will be taken seriously.

The Health Ministry and the ICMR have written to all states and Union territories asking them to ramp up testing as RT-PCR results may take time due to huge pressure. It said that the state governments should increase rapid antigen testing and encourage people to use self-testing kits that have been approved by the government.

The sudden surge in COVID cases have created concern for the Health Ministry and ICMR. Some of the states are seriously thinking of imposing lockdown and creating contentment zones. Night curfew has already been reimposed in many states including Delhi where Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said it will have to think of stringent measures if the COVID cases continue to rise.
