CSIR-Jigyasa Spearheads Climate Change Awareness with Student-Science Connect Programme

Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) - Jigyasa Hosts Student-Science Connect program on Climate Change

The Jigyasa Division of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) at the National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (NISCPR) conducted a pivotal Student-Science Connect programme titled "Impact of Climate Change: Food and Water Sustainability" today at Vivekananda Hall, CSIR-NISCPR campus in New Delhi.

This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and young learners, engaging 55 students from Kendriya Vidyalaya BSF Camp Chawla and Cambridge School, Srinivaspuri, in vital discussions about sustainability and the impacts of climate change.

During the event, Prof Ranjana Aggarwal, Director of CSIR-NISCPR, highlighted the institute's innovative 'Wrinkle Achche Hain' campaign, which encourages the wearing of non-ironed clothes as a statement for energy conservation. "Our objective is not only to inform but to inspire active participation in environmental conservation and energy-saving practices among students," she remarked. The programme is designed to foster an environmentally conscious generation, ready to tackle global challenges with sustainable solutions.

The day was further enriched by a hands-on activity session titled “Doing Science is Fun,” facilitated by Amit Kumar Sharma from the Nirbhaya Science Museum, MCD, New Delhi. Participants also toured the SVASTIK Exhibition, adding a practical dimension to their learning experience.

Event attendees included Principal Investigator and Nodal of the CSIR-NIScPR Jigyasa project, Dr Suman Ray (Principal Scientist), along with Dr Shiv Narayan Nishad, Senior Scientist, and Dr Kanika Malik, Sr Principal Scientist at CSIR-NISCPR, all of whom played significant roles in the event.
