The initiative was inaugurated with an inspiring speech by Dr N Kalaiselvi, Secretary of DSIR and Director General of CSIR, who addressed young students on the importance of cleanliness in building a healthy society and encouraged them to lead in various spheres of life. The event also featured a cleanliness drive led by the DSIR team, demonstrating practical steps in maintaining cleanliness. Participants, including DSIR staff and students, pledged to dedicate a hundred hours annually to cleanliness activities, extending the message of the Swachh Bharat Mission. This pledge not only commits individuals to maintain hygiene but also encourages them to influence others to join this nationwide effort.

The Swacchta Pakhwada is aimed at fostering a culture of cleanliness among India’s youth, ensuring they grow up with the awareness and responsibility needed to support and propagate the values of the Swachh Bharat initiative.
