One of the biggest natural calamities had struck India when the entire country was preparing to celebrate the 52nd Republic Day in 2001. It was the Bhuj earthquake that not only shook Gujarat but even adjoining areas including Delhi.
The quake killed over 20,023 people and destroyed more than 340,000 buildings.
Half of the Bhuj, and parts of Gujarat especially close to the epicenter were completely destroyed. Big houses, apartments, and lavish mansions were raised to the ground. Many could not take the sudden jolt and succumb to the trauma. Endless painful stories as still today the ghost of Bhuj quake is very much alive in these victims for whom the Republic Day will never be same again.
Well, I am not here to make rhetorics or recall the trauma but just want you all to pray and remember those who lost their lives and also who are alive but have lost their near and dear ones in the quake.
