EU and India Initiate Matchmaking for EV Battery Recycling Startups
EU-India join forces to promote start-up collaboration on Recycling of E-Vehicles Batteries under Trade and Technology Council
The European Union (EU) and India have inaugurated a pioneering initiative to foster collaboration among startups specializing in Electric Vehicle (EV) Battery Recycling Technologies. This groundbreaking venture is set to take place under the auspices of the India-EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC), with the primary objective of enhancing cooperation between European and Indian Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and startups. The aim is to exchange knowledge and expertise in the domain of clean and green technologies, thus propelling both regions towards the goal of circular economy and carbon neutrality.
Launched today, the Expression of Interest (EoI) invites startups/SMEs from both regions to participate in a matchmaking event slated for June 2024. This forum will select twelve innovators, equally divided between India and the EU, to present their novel solutions to potential investors and adopters. Following their pitches, six finalists will be chosen to visit their counterparts' regions, thereby encouraging cross-border collaboration.
The event, falling under the TTC Working Group 2, signifies a concerted effort to promote sustainable practices, innovation, and stronger economic ties between the EU and India. It serves as a vital platform for Indian startups/SMEs to showcase their prowess in battery recycling technologies and to forge strategic partnerships with European entities.
Professor Ajay Kumar Sood, India's Principal Scientific Adviser, and Mr. Marc Lemaître, Director-General for Research and Innovation at the European Commission, both emphasize the critical importance of this collaboration in driving the advancement of battery recycling solutions and fostering a sustainable circular economy.
Startups and SMEs interested in this unique opportunity are encouraged to submit their Expressions of Interest by 30th April 2024, through the designated websites. This initiative is a significant step towards deepening the strategic partnership between India and the EU, highlighting the shared commitment to ensuring security, prosperity, and sustainable development based on mutual values.
Interested startups and SMEs from India and the EU are invited to submit their Expressions of Interest (EoI) by 30th April, 2024.
