Indian Space Policy 2023 approved by the Cabinet Committee on Security
The Government of India finally approved the Indian Space Policy 2023 today.
The Indian Space Policy 2023 was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Security
chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The policy also delineates roles and
responsibilities of ISRO, space sector PSU NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) and
Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe).
"In brief, the Indian Space Policy will offer clarity in the role
of the components set up (in the recent past)," Union Minister Jitendra
Singh told reporters here.
The minister said that the policy will allow and boost the private
sector participation in the entire ecosystem in the space sector in building
satellites, rockets and launch vehicles, data collection and dissemination.
The stakeholders are excited on this development which they see as a big
move for growth of the Indian Space Sector.
Expressing his happiness, Dr Pawan Goenka, Chairman of INSPACe, Department
of Space tweeted, “A great day and a big milestone for the Indian space sector.
Cabinet has approved the Indian Space Policy 2023 today. The policy throws the
door wide open for Indian private enterprises to enter the space sector with
facilitation by ISRO and IN-SPACe.”
