MAIDEN VISIT OF JORDAN ARMED FORCES TRAINING DELEGATION TO SNC AND INA

In a landmark visit aimed at bolstering military training and cooperation, a three-member delegation from the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF), led by Cdr Hazem I Maitah, visited the Southern Naval Command in Kochi and the Indian Naval Academy in Ezhimala from April 29 to May 4, 2024. This inaugural trip follows the second consultative meeting on defence cooperation between India and Jordan in March 2023.

During their stay, the delegation explored a variety of training facilities at the Southern Naval Command's professional schools in Kochi. Key activities included engaging with advanced simulators, professional exchanges, and observing demonstrations of Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (VBSS) and Diving Operations. Additionally, the group toured the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant and the ship repair facilities at Cochin Shipyard Ltd.

Discussions with Cmde Sritanu Guru, the Southern Naval Command's Training Commander, focused on expanding collaboration in naval training and professional courses between the Indian Navy and Jordan Armed Forces.

At the Indian Naval Academy, the delegation met with VAdm Vineet McCarty, the Commandant, to discuss training methodologies, leadership strategies, and operational experiences. The visitors were impressed by the academy’s state-of-the-art training facilities and engaged in discussions on best practices.

This visit marks a significant step in deepening the defence cooperation between the Indian Navy and Jordan Armed Forces, enhancing both nations' military training capabilities and strategic partnership.
