The India Art Architecture Design Biennale (IAADB '23) curtain raiser event and logo launch were both organised by the Ministry of Culture and took place last night at the National Gallery of Modern Art in Delhi.
The first India Art Architecture Design Biennale will take place in December 2023, with activities planned in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, according to a video message from G Kishan Reddy, the Union Minister for Culture, Tourism, and DONER. For the Biennale's success, he sent his best wishes.
Meenakashi Lekhi, a minister of state for external relations and culture, gave the keynote speech at the gathering. The India Art Architecture Biennale, she claimed, "promises to stand as a beacon in India's rich festival tapestry, striving to exhibit the country's architectural and artistic genius on the international arena. The splendour of this Biennale's international equivalents is mirrored here, and it also promises pure enchantment in addition to inspiration. By bringing together grassroots craftspeople and contemporary designers, the Biennale will spark conversations, innovation, and collaboration, advancing the creative economy.
In her introductory remarks, Mugdha Sinha, the Joint Secretary, gave a summary of the approaching Biennale. She disclosed that the Biennale will be held at the renowned Red Fort from December 9 to December 15, 2023. Each day of the event will be devoted to a different theme, which will be organised by professionals in the field, and will be explored through exhibitions and panel discussions. Doors and gateways, fascinating gardens, breathtaking stepwells, majestic temple architecture, modern wonders of independent India, the current face of indigenous design, and the importance of women in architecture are just a few of the themes covered.
It was also said that the India Art Architecture Design Biennale 2023 would promote a thorough discussion among practitioners and experts in the fields of art, architecture, and design in order to prepare India for its participation in the Venice Biennale in 2024. The Biennale seeks to break down barriers related to age, gender, and genre by elevating contemporary designers, curators, architects, and thought leaders. Additionally, it was mentioned that the Biennale will herald the start of the Red Fort's Development of Cultural Spaces project and is in line with the Prime Minister's agenda.
