Prof Charu Kapoor paid tribute through songs to Geeta Dutt, Lata Mangeshkar
and Asha Bhosle
Vice Chancellor honoured the students of the 37th North-West
Zone Inter-University Youth Festival winners
A musical evening was
organized by the Culture Council of University of Delhi to pay the tribute to
the three legendary singers Geeta Dutt, Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle. In
this program organized late Friday evening, singer Prof Charu Kapoor paid tribute
to the three legendary singers with songs sung by them in her own voice.
Chief Guest of the programme
DU VC Prof Yogesh Singh congratulated the Culture Council for organizing the
programme. Along with this, he also wished Happy Holi to the people present. On
this occasion, the Vice Chancellor also honoured the students of DU who were
winners in the 37th North-West Zone Inter-University Youth
Festival-2024. It is noteworthy that DU teams had received
different awards in a total of 6 categories in this youth
festival.
At the beginning of the
program, Dean, Culture Council, Prof Ravinder welcomed the guests in his poetic
style. After that singer Prof Charu Kapoor started her performance with the
song “Babu ji dheere chalna… pyaar mein zara sambhalna… bade dhokhe hain is
raah mein…” sung by Geeta Dutt in the 1954 in film
“Aar Paar”. After that, she sang 3 more songs by Geeta
Dutt, “Vaqt Ne Kiya Kya Haseen Sitam…, Ae Dil Mujhe Bata De Tu Kis Pe Aa
Gaya Hai… and Mera Naam Chin
Chin Chu… ".
Paying tribute to Lata
Mangeshkar, Prof Kapoor sang her ghazal “Yun
Hasraton Ke Daag Mohabbat Mein Dho Liye...” along with her songs “Aa Lag Ja Gale Phir Ye Haseen Raat Ho Na
Ho...”, “Ajeeb Daastaan Hai Ye Kahan Shuru Kahan Kharm...” and “Woh chup rahe to mere dil ke daag jalate
hai…” presented in her own voice.
After that she presented in her
own voice the songs sung by Asha Bhosle “Bhanvra
bada nadan hai…” and “Chura liya hai
tumne jo dil ko, nazar nahi churana sanam…” etc.
On this occasion, DU Vice Chancellor Prof Yogesh
Singh, Dean of Colleges Prof Balram Pani, Director Southern Campus, Prof. Shri
Prakash Singh, Registrar Dr Vikas Gupta, Director of SOL Prof Payal Mago,
Proctor Prof Rajni Abbi and many teachers, staff and students were present. At
the end of the program, Dr Hemant, Joint Dean, Culture Council, presented the
vote of thanks.
