4-day talent show event by NESTS for over 2000 tribal students from 22 States

On October 3, 2023, in Dehradun, the 4th EMRS National Cultural & Literary Fest and Kala Utsav were officially opened by Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS) of the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs organised the event, which was held at Maharana Pratap Sports College in Dehradun and hosted by the Eklavya Vidyalaya Sangathan Samiti (EVSS) of Uttarakhand.

The Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) Cultural Fest offers indigenous kids a platform at the national level to display their untapped abilities in several fields. This year, almost 2000 tribal kids from 22 States would perform during the event's four days (3rd - 6th October). This festival will host more than 20 events, ranging from quizzes and visual arts to dance and song performances. Tribal traditional exhibitions will be displayed in stalls from several States.

At the time, Arjun Munda remarked that such occasions give students and teachers at EMRS a chance to interact, comprehend, and learn about the cultures of various provinces of the nation, thereby advancing the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a "Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat." I think that these courses will inspire you and provide you a fantastic opportunity to learn about your own culture as well as the rich traditions of the tribal communities that live in various parts of the country, the speaker stated.

Pushkar Singh Dhami highlighted the varied customs and cultures of the tribal people of Uttarakhand as well as the many government initiatives put forth for the benefit of the State's Scheduled Tribes. Naval Jit Kapoor, Joint Secretary M/o Tribal Affairs and Commissioner, NESTS, gave a presentation regarding the EMRS programme during the opening ceremony. Amazing traditional performances by students from EMRS and tribal villages in Uttarakhand were part of the opening ceremony.
