810 MW Grid Connected Solar Photovoltaic Power Project in Rajasthan is secured by NLC India Ltd
Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Nigam Limited (RRVUNL) has awarded NLC India Limited, a Navratna Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSE) under the Ministry of Coal, a contract for an 810 MW solar project.
For the development of RRVUNL's 2000 MW Ultra Mega Solar Park at Pugal Tehsil, Bikaner District, Rajasthan, NLCIL has successfully acquired the whole capacity of the 810 MW tender floated by RRVUNL in December 2022. RRVUNL has released the Letter of Intent for this project. This accomplishment represents a significant advancement in NLCIL's pursuit of clean and sustainable energy sources.
The project will be completed more quickly thanks to RVUNL's provision of the project's land and the power evacuation system connected to STU. The company's biggest renewable energy project to date is this one. With the completion of this project, Rajasthan's electricity capacity will increase to 1.36 GW, including 1.1 GW of green power, resulting in cost savings through economies of scale.
Due to Rajasthan's favourable solar radiation, a higher CUF for the project is feasible. This will result in the production of more than 50 billion units of green power and the reduction of more than 50,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions during the course of the project.
The company is currently developing 50 MW of solar power on mined out land, 200 MW of solar power under the CPSU scheme on a pan-India basis, 300 MW of solar power under the CPSU scheme in the Barsingsar district of Bikaner, and 600 MW of solar power in the Khavda Solar Project in the Bhuj District of Gujarat.
The company was the first CPSU to install 1 GW of RE capacity, according to Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD. NLCIL is currently developing 2 GW of RE capacity across India, including this project, with the goal of reaching more than 6 GW RE capacity by 2030, in line with the commitment of the Government of India to bolstering RE capacity addition.
