DU Vice Chancellor inaugurates construction work of new building of Faculty of Technology with Bhoomi Poojan

The construction work of the new building of Faculty of Technology in University of Delhi was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof Yogesh Singh with the Bhoomi Pujan. The Vice Chancellor also started the work of foundation by breaking the coconut. With this, the countdown for the new building of the Faculty of Technology started on 14th February. The Vice Chancellor said that a target has been set to complete its construction work in the next 541 days. This building will be ready by 16 August 2025.

The Vice Chancellor said that the Academic Building for the Faculty of Technology is being built for a total cost of Rs 195.65 Crore by NBCC. The total area of the new building is 285000 Sq ft approximately. It will be a state of Art building having class rooms, Labs, Workshops, HoD office, Professor’s & Allied staff offices, Admin & Accounts offices, Multipurpose Hall etc.

The project aims to be a 3 Star GRIHA rated project. The building shall have sustainable features viz. facilities of Greywater recycling for landscape irrigation and flushing, passive design strategies, Solar photovoltaic energy generation and rainwater harvesting system. To make the building accessible for all, a barrier free circulation is ensured throughout the building. Director of South Campus Prof. Shri Prakash Singh, Registrar Dr Vikas Gupta, KP Mahadeva Swamy (Chairman & Managing Director of NBCC), DU FO Girish Ranjan, Chairperson of DU Cultural Council Anoop Lather and Chief Engineer Anupam Srivastava and many dignitaries from University of Delhi and NBCC (I) Limited were present at the Bhoomi Poojan ceremony.
