Manipur Day was celebrated at the 40th India International Trade Fair (IITF) at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, Wednesday. The event was attended by state Minister for Commerce & Industries Thongam Biswajit as chief guest, Director (Commerce & Industries) Kengoo Zuringla as president, and Deputy Resident Commissioner of Manipur Bhavan, New Delhi Lh Ngathingshim as the guest of honour.

Speaking on this occasion Biswajit Singh complimented the BJP government in the state and said, "Finally, there is peace in the state and business is back on track. Today, we can boast of not only being self-reliant but also of offering a lot of facilities outside. Our artisans are getting their recognition and this has happened due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to develop the small scale industries under Atma Nirbhar Bharat programme".

He said the slogan 'vocal for local' has done wonders especially in states like the northeast that have been neglected over the years. Today Manipur is exporting to countries like Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, Germany, the United States of America, Egypt, to name a few.

The Minister mentioned the rich traditional handloom of Manipur and the beautiful dresses that have now become a fashion statement even outside several northeastern states.

Singh extended a warm welcome to all and requested to visit Manipu and see the development taking place. He said, "Manipur is a small state but so full of natural beauty. Please come to our state and enjoy the hospitality of the Manipuri people. Our tourism is booming and we have all the facilities".

Director (commerce & industries) Kengoo Zuringla said, "In the recent past the state has developed immensely and has a lot to offer especially in small scale industries and tourism". She mentioned the rich cultural heritage of the state.
