Inauguration of Chintan Shivir on “CRTDHs Empowering MSMEs” to be held on 13th October

The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) runs a number of programmes to support industrial units as they develop cutting-edge, globally competitive technologies with high commercial value, accelerating the commercialization of laboratory-scale R&D, enhancing technology transfer capabilities, increasing the share of technology-intensive exports in total exports, bolstering industrial consultancy, and establishing a use case for such technologies.

By encouraging equitable growth throughout the country, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a crucial role in India's overall economy. Therefore, these MSMEs need to be made more aware of the need to translate publicly supported R&D into goods and processes. In line with this objective, DSIR has been putting Common Research and Technology Development Hubs (CRTDHs) into place in publicly supported institutions that are close to and connected to MSME clusters since 2014. Currently, 18 CRTDHs spread out around the nation offer MSMEs and research institutions cutting-edge R&D facilities for converting scientific ideas and expertise into new goods and procedures. The Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, innovators, and start-ups use these facilities.

DSIR has planned to hold "Chintan Shivir-CRTDHs Empowering MSMEs" across all of the established CRTDHs as part of the "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" initiative and while travelling towards "Aatmanirbhar Bharat" and to strengthen the interaction between the CRTDHs and MSMEs/Start-ups/innovators. These shivirs will act as forums for extensive dialogue and interaction with many stakeholders. The Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences & Research University (DPSRU) will host the fifth Chintan Shivir on October 13, 2023. DSIR has already organised four Chintan Shivirs at IIT Kharagpur, CSIR-IITR, Lucknow, CSIR-CMERI Durgapur, and CSIR-IMMT Bhubaneshwar.

The event will kick off with a speech by N. Kalaiselvi, Secretary, DSIR, and Director General, CSIR, on top of Ramesh K. Goyal's discussion about the goal of DPSRU and DPSRU-CRTDH.  Sujata Chaklanobis, Scientist-G & Head-CRTDH, DSIR, will present an overview of Chintan Shivir during the opening session. Harvinder Popli, Registrar, DPSRU, and Geeta Aggarwal, Project Coordinator-CRTDH at DPSRU, will also speak.Along with the CRTDH team of DPSRU and the DPSRU Innovation and Incubation Foundation team, Vipin C. Shukla, Ranjeet Bairwa, and Suman Mazumdar will attend the event. In order to learn more about how CRTDH might assist their R&D efforts, representatives from Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), start-ups, and industry associations will also attend this session. Following the opening ceremony, a tour of the exhibition's numerous stalls will be conducted.

With Vipin C. Shukla, Scientist-F & Member Secretary-CRTDH, DSIR serving as the moderator, the panel discussion entitled "CRTDH Building a Support System for MSMEs for R&D and Manufacturing" will get underway. The issues faced by MSMEs would be explored and discussed by the participants, with a focus on encouraging research and development as instruments for problem-solving. The goal is to produce fresh viewpoints, insights, and ideas that can aid in the creation and execution of government-aligned policies, programmes, and initiatives. The Chintan Shivir will give these enterprises, such as MSMEs, Start-ups, and industries, a platform to learn how the resources offered by CRTDH can strengthen their capacity, increase productivity, and advance innovation in the field of cost-effective health solutions. The CRTDH's contribution to empowering MSMEs and other stakeholders with research infrastructure, technologies, futuristic technologies, and existing and future prospects for them in the nation will be highlighted in several sessions.

Through in-depth talks, critical analysis, and strategic planning, the event will generally try to tap into the collective wisdom, knowledge, and expertise of Government officials, DPSRU, and stakeholders. This will achieve the objective of coming up with answers for the problems that MSMEs, startups, and innovators face in the nation while also taking advantage of chances to make India a significant international hub for manufacturing in the field of affordable healthcare.
