Jammu and Kashmir Nationalist People's Front calls for Kashmir Bandh on 20 October, condemns brutal killing of labourers

The Jammu and Kashmir Nationalist People's Front (JKNPF) President Shiekh Muzaffar has expressed serious concern over spurt in civilian killings in recent days in Kashmir valley. “The people of Kashmir are in deep shock and dumbstuck with the pain of cold blooded murder of two labourer brothers in Kulgam. The spurt in senseless killings of innocent civilians was very unfortunate, heart wrenching and against the tenets of Islam," he observed.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the JKNPF President while condemning senseless killing of civilians from last few days. He appealed to the civil society, common people, media and government to voice its concern in strong terms against target killing of civilians expose such enemies of humanity and peace. He said enemies of peace were hell bent to tarnish the image of secular Kashmir and Kashmiriat by fomenting communal frenzy and hatred. He said such incidents of target killings are aimed at to bring bad name to Kashmiri majority community and to foment communal tensions and disrupt the peaceful atmosphere in the region.

He made a fervent appeal to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, irrespective of caste, creed, colour, religion and region, to rise to the occasion and stand like a rock to defeat nefarious designs of the enemies of peace and brotherhood. He added, “Enemies of peace would not be allowed to vitiate our centuries’ old tradition of mutual communal understanding and unity in diversity.”

He added his heartfelt tributes to the martyr civilians and condolences to the bereaved families. “Our brother labourers beautify and bless through their hard work to add more flavour to the beautiful Kashmir. They have no concern with politics. They are just working for their livelihood and for supporting their families.”

He earnestly requested the general people for "Kashmir Bandh" from 7am to 11am on 20th of October (Wednesday) as a mark of protest against the brutal and barbaric killings and show support and solidarity to the families of those innocent people.
