Lieutenant General JS Sidana Takes Helm as 33rd DGEME, Advocates for Innovation in Army Support

Lt Gen JS Sidana takes over as 33rd Director General of Electronics & Mechanical Engineers


Lieutenant General JS Sidana has been appointed as the 33rd Director General of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (DGEME) and Senior Colonel Commandant of the Corps of EME, commencing his duties on April 1, 2024. Bringing to the role over 38 years of rich experience across various capacities in the Indian Army, he most recently served as the Commandant of the Military College of EME for two years. His previous roles include Major General EME at HQ Central Command and leadership positions at the Army Base Workshop & EME Centre.


A distinguished alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, Lt Gen Sidana was commissioned into the Corps of EME from the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, on December 14, 1985. His academic achievements are notable, holding a Masters in Management Studies from Osmania University, an M.Tech from IIT Kanpur, and a Master of Philosophy from Punjab University.


Upon his inauguration as DGEME, Lieutenant General Sidana called upon the Corps to harness technology and innovation to enhance engineering support for the Indian Army. Demonstrating his respect for the Corps' valor, he paid tribute to its martyrs by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial in New Delhi. His leadership is poised to infuse the Corps with a renewed focus on technological advancement and innovation.
