Ministry of Panchayati Raj's SVAMITVA Scheme earned the 2023 National Award for e-Government

The National Award for e-Governance 2023 (GOLD) for Application of Emerging Technologies for Providing Citizen Centric Services was given to the Ministry of Panchayati Raj's SVAMITVA (Survey of Villages Abadi and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas) Scheme.

It honours the superb and outstanding work carried out by Team SVAMITVA with assistance from Team NIC-MoPR. The use of technology under the SVAMITVA Scheme has greatly facilitated towards citizen-centric governance and helped in comprehensive village planning to make rural India Atmanirbhar. Technology is evolving very quickly, and initiatives to integrate technology with governance reforms have started yielding results.

SVAMITVA Scheme has been successful in offering an integrated property validation solution for rural India, enhancing the financial stability of those who live there, and transforming lives in rural regions through effective implementation.

The plan aims to increase financial liquidity while reducing property disputes by providing correct land records. The programme aims to simplify planning and revenue collection while also guaranteeing that locals are aware of their property rights in rural areas.

The SVAMITVA scheme's aims are listed below.

  • Allowing the villagers to borrow money against their property to establish banks and other financial institutions will ensure their financial stability.
  • To aid in rural planning, create accurate land records lessen disputes over property.
  • Contribute to the creation of survey structures and GIS maps so that other departments can use them as needed.
  • Calculate the property tax.

The PM Modi SVAMITVA Yojana operates in phases. These include

Phase I: April 2020 through March 2021 will be the remaining months of Phase I, which is the Pilot phase. In Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh, this phase encompasses 1 lakh villages. The responsible body would set up a CROS (Continuously Operating Reference Stations) network in two States, Rajasthan and Punjab, during this phase.

Phase II: This phase, which will cover approximately 6.62 lakh villages, will run from April 2021 to March 2025. A CROS network of 567 CORS stations is also intended to be established.
