National Health Authority (NHA) crosses a major milestone of generating more than 1 crore tokens for OPD through ABHA

With the use of the ABHA-based Scan and Share service, the National Health Authority (NHA) generated more than 1 crore tokens for OPD registrations, marking a significant accomplishment. Patients can submit their ABHA profile for immediate registration by scanning the QR code located at the Out-Patient Department (OPD) registration counter with the paperless service, which was introduced in October 2022 as part of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). More than 2,600 health facilities spread across 419 districts in 33 Indian States and Union Territories currently offer this service.

States and UTs have adopted the Scan and Share service quickly in public health facilities to control the lines at the patient registration counters and improve the patient experience. According to data from the ABDM Public Dashboard, the AIIMS are most frequently used in the cities of Raipur, Bhopal, and Delhi. Nine of the top fifteen hospitals are also located in Uttar Pradesh. UP is closely followed by Karnataka, Jammu & Kashmir, and Delhi in terms of the overall number of OPD tokens produced by the ABHA-based Scan and Share programme. In terms of scan and share service, government hospitals like AIIMS, New Delhi, SRN Hospital, Prayagraj, and AIIMS, Raipur, have excelled.

The CEO of NHA stated the following when discussing the importance of such digital services: "ABDM aspires to add convenience and efficiency to healthcare delivery. Nearly 1 lakh people are reducing the amount of time they spend waiting in hospital lines every day thanks to the Scan and Share service at OPD counters, a straightforward technological innovation. We intend to extend this service to pharmacy counters and laboratories in an effort to lessen patients' discomfort when they access medical services. Our goal is to use technology to make it easier for older patients, expectant women, and other individuals to obtain healthcare services. The patients would benefit from having digital access to their prescriptions, pharmacy slips, and diagnostic data thanks to the ABHA-based registrations.
