Open Campus Day on 26 February at Inter University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics to focus on Indian Solar Astronomy and Aditya L1 mission

OPEN CAMPUS DAY at IUCAA - the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics, Pune on 26th Feb, 2023 is being organised to celebrate the National Science Day. This is one of the most popular events in this region.

This year the highlights are:

Indian Solar Astronomy and Aditya-L1 mission, that is planned to be launched soon by ISRO. It is vital to understand our own Sun, its surroundings, and its effects on the Earth. Aditya-L1 is going to be a advanced observatory, located in space, studying the Sun 24x7 and giving a boost to the research in India. Many parts of it have been made in IUCAA.

This mission and the research at IUCAA will be showcased to everyone. There will be models and 3D printed demos along with posters. Special public interactions with the scientists and engineers who are actually leading the work on this have also been arranged.

Along with these, there will be the regular attractions for everyone in person to see, guided by well informed IUCAA volunteer team. The gates will open at 10 and people can visit the main campus up to 5.30 pm and attend a public scientist interaction in the Chandrasekhar Auditorium till 7 pm.

IUCAA is located inside the SP Pune University Campus..

Live Sun Observations will be done with special telescopes showing the current active regions on it's face.

Inspiring the Future Women of Science will be the theme of a special panel session which will be relevant to everyone. It will highlight the efforts, successful ideas and focus on positive solutions.
