This year's Padma Awards are announced. The list includes names of vaccine makers Krishna Ella, Suchitra Ella, Cyrus Poonawalla, eminent political leaders like Ghulam Nabi Azad, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, actor Victor Banerjee, singer Sandhya Mukherjee, Sonu Nigam, Silicon Valley giants from India Satya Nadella and Sundar Pichai were named for the country's top civilian awards on Tuesday, the eve of the 73rd Republic Day.
General Bipin Rawat, India's first Chief of Defence Staff who was killed in a helicopter crash has been honoured with India's second-highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan, along with former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh.
