Plenary Session on Enabling global mobility of Indian workforce – Role of Indian Diaspora held today at 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas

The Session was chaired by Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education and Minister of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India.

 

Pradhan added with confidence, “Indian workforce is hardworking, honest and responsible. India can emerge as the global hub of skilled manpower.

 

With NEP 2020 and a new skilling approach, we are envisioning a flexible model with multiple entry-exit and skilling pathways that focuses on building competencies.”

 

He patiently noted the suggestions of the Pravasi / NRI delegates for the welfare and well-being of the Indian community as well as for further strengthening the enduring bond of friendship. He later met people from Kuwait, Mauritius and other nationalities also.

 

“Our diaspora are our ambassadors. Pleased to interact with our diaspora from Kuwait at PBD2023”, Pradhan tweeted after the session.

 

He added, “Always a delight to interact with our vibrant Indian diaspora of Mauritius. Appreciate their suggestions on educating youth about Indian culture, spirituality and heritage. Spoke about how NEP 2020 focuses on education that is rooted in Indianness with a modern outlook.

 

Our diaspora is an integral part of India’s civilisation and has played an important role in its great journey. Spoke about our diaspora’s role in enhancing the capacity and mobility of India’s workforce and in creating a new Indian model for serving humanity

 

Fazila Jeewa-Daureeawoo, Minister for Social Integration, Social Security and National Solidarity, Mauritius also spoke on the occasion on the social bonding and historic relationships between the Pravasis and India.

 

MA Yousuf Ali, CMD, Lulu Group International, UAE also presented his views and stressed that India was with them always wherever they are.

 

Sneba Naldkeoyar, Chairperson for Women in Business, Australia India Business Council spoke on communication and linkages of, between and with the Pravasis, NRIs and India.

 

Other speakers in the session were Sanjeev Sinha, Board member SBI Group Japan, Kuldeep Singh Shekhawat, Director, MATV, UK, Dr Siddeek Ahmed, Chairman, ERAM Group, Saudi Arabia and Anil Trigunayat, former Ambassador to Jordan, Libya and Malta.
