President of India Draupadi Murmu will be the Chief Guest at the 99th Convocation of DU tomorrow
The 99th Convocation of University of Delhi will be held tomorrow,
on February 25. Draupadi Murmu, the President of India, will be
the Chief Guest. Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education and Skill
Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, will be present as the Guest
of Honour in this function, to be organized in the Multipurpose Hall located in
the sports complex of the university. The function will be Presided by the Vice
Chancellor of University of Delhi, Prof. Yogesh Singh.
Special instructions have also been issued by the
university for the orderly conduct of the ceremony. Candidates eligible to receive
the degree have been advised to follow the instructions to maintain the
sanctity and tradition of the ceremony. As per instructions, invitation letter
is mandatory for admission in convocation, which is non-transferrable. It is
also necessary to have a valid identity card issued by any government
organization along with the invitation letter. Hand bags, cameras and any other
electronic gadgets are prohibited inside the venue. Mobile phones and remote
keys of cars etc. are also not allowed inside the venue. Parking facility is
available at Gate No. 2C of the University. Live telecast of this entire
function will also be available on the website of the University. All the
preparations have been completed regarding the function. The auditorium has
also been fully equipped.
A total of 170 students,
including 51 male and 119 female students,
will be awarded medals/prizes during the function. Degree will be awarded to 47 students
of DM/M.Ch in the medical field. Digital degrees to 157290 undergraduate/post graduate students will be awarded on this occasion,
which includes 54.7% female and 45.3% male students.
About 900 students will be awarded PhD degree. This figure
of PhD degrees is the highest ever in the history of the university.
