Prime Minister Launches Multibillion Development Drive Across Four States

PM visit Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh on 8th-10th March


Prime Minister visited Assam on 8th March and has a packed schedule across Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh on 9th-10th March 2024, marking a significant development push.


In Assam, his journey began with a visit to Kaziranga National Park on 9th March at 5:45 AM, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famed for its one-horned rhinoceroses. Later, in Itanagar, at 10:30 AM, he will lead the ‘Viksit Bharat Viksit North East’ program, dedicating the Sela Tunnel to the nation and introducing the UNNATI scheme, an initiative with a Rs 10,000 crore investment to boost the northeastern states' industrial ecosystem. He will also initiate multiple projects totaling approximately Rs 55,600 crore across Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh. At Jorhat around 12:15 PM, the Prime Minister will unveil an 84 feet statue of Lachit Borphukan and announce over Rs 17,500 crore worth of projects enhancing Assam's health, oil, gas, rail, and housing sectors.


The Prime Minister's itinerary includes Siliguri, West Bengal, where at 3:45 PM, he will kickstart projects valued at about Rs 4,500 crore, followed by a visit to Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, at 7 PM for prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple.


On 10th March, a public program in Uttar Pradesh will see the initiation of projects exceeding Rs 42,000 crore, and by 2:15 PM, the Prime Minister will distribute the first instalment under Mahatari Vandana Yojana via video conferencing to Chhattisgarh.

The unveiling of the Lachit Borphukan statue and associated cultural projects in Assam to promote tourism and job creation.

Launch of the UNNATI scheme for northeastern industrial development, covering all 8 states with financial incentives for new setups.

Dedication of the Sela Tunnel in Arunachal Pradesh, enhancing regional connectivity and strategic mobility.

Foundation stones for significant health and education infrastructure under the PM-DevINE scheme, alongside oil and gas sector expansions.

Introduction of various rail and road projects across the targeted states, aiming to improve connectivity and stimulate economic growth.

This ambitious development drive underscores the government's commitment to enhancing infrastructure, healthcare, education, and industrial growth across these states, with a particular focus on the northeastern region's upliftment.
