Finally, a statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose is going to be installed under the canopy at India Gate, New Delhi. A long-pending demand of the people that was unheard since decades. On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted to inform the nation that a granite statue of Netaji Bose will be installed soon. Prime Minister also informed that a hologram of the statue will be unveiled on January 23, 2022, to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji.

The second tweet informing about the hologram of the statue will be placed under the canopy till the statue is ready.

This news has come like a surprise for the countrymen who had been waiting for this day for decades. In the past, Congress had proposed the statue of Mahatma Gandhi but was ruled out by opposition stating there are numerous statues of Mahatma Gandhi. It was proposed to either have a statue of Netaji Bose or Raja Ram Mohan Roy. Then again the matter had subsided.

PM Modi tweeted on Friday. “At a time when the entire nation is marking the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, I am glad to share that his grand statue, made of granite, will be installed at India Gate,” “This would be a symbol of India’s indebtedness to him.”

The statue will be installed under the grand canopy at the India Gate. The canopy was built to house the statue of the former king of England George V. The statue was later moved to Coronation Park in Central Delhi in the mid-1960s.

Earlier on Friday, the Amar Jawan Jyoti was merged with National War Memorial with full military honour.
