Union Health Minister inaugurates health pavilion at IITF, informs about digital record

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya led a bicycle rally to Pragati Maidan to inaugurate the Health Ministry's pavilion at 40th India International Trade Fair (IITF). Addressing the Press after inaugurating the Health Pavilion, the Health Minister announced a month-long campaign as part of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav to create awareness about preventive health. He said, "Under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi 'jan bhagidari' has played a critical role in combating the COVID pandemic. Such initiatives will act as a shield in future against any such health-related". 


This year's theme for the Heath Pavilion is to create awareness about non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The Health Minister stressed having not only good health facilities but at the same time affordable health care. Mandaviya said, "Total health is our slogan and it starts with preventive care. For example fit India, yoga, khelo India is part of Total Health. Ayushman Bharat -Health and Wellness centres are the backbones of our health system".

The minister said over 113 crore vaccination doses have been administered with the support of various stakeholders. Over 80 percent of people are covered in the first phase of vaccination and touched more than 40 percent in the second phase. 

He complimented the Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission launched recently by the prime minister to combat any future pandemic or other health hazards. "The idea of Ayushman Bharat digital mission will government to keep a digital record of citizens. It would not help us but also would come as a handy available guide of health history". He informed launching the drive to register for Ayushman Bharat digital mission will begin soon and requested all to participate actively. Every individual would be given an ID for the digital record.

The minister said, "We are investing in hospitals to increase the doctor-patient ratio, and under this initiative, we have doubled MBBS seats. Also, Post Graduation seats have been increased and plan to do more in future".

The minister greeted the journalists on the occasion of 'National Press Day.
