WNO NEEM SUMMIT & GLOBAL NEEM TRADE FAIR INAUGURATED AT NEW DELHI
The Inaugural Function of World Neem Summit 2024 started today with the Lighting of Lamp.
The Welcome Address was by the President WNO (World Neem
Organisation) Dr BN Vyas who spoke on the history of WNO. He informed that the
World Neem Organisation was registered on 2017 as a Section 8 company. He also spoke
on the signification of Neem and its eco system benefits.
This was followed with Address by Dr A Arunachalam,
Director, ICAR CAFRI who also talked about the products like Neem Ladoos (round sweet popular across
India) and pointed that the hall was decorated with Neem and bouquets were also
of Neem.
In his address Dr Rajbir Singh, ADG (AA&CC), ICAR HQ reminded
about various names and meaning of Neem
in many languages like reliever of sickness and 40 disorders in our traditional
literature and it grows freely. Also this was the 11th international Neem
Conference. He remembered how the First International Conference was organised
in 1983.
After this the Souvenir, WNO Calendar and Technical Bulletin
titled “Neem Field Gene Bank - Provisioning Opportunities for Conservation and
Utilization” were released followed by WNO Documentary launch.
Outstanding Contributions (WNO& SSCE Awards) were
presented by the Guests of Honour Dr PK Singh, Agriculture Production Commissioner,
Justice KK Tated, Chairperson, Maharashtra Human Rights Commission and the Chief
Guest Dr Himanshu Pathak, Director General, ICAR.
